FAQ’s {Frequently Asked Questions}

So seriously, what’s up with all the names?
No, it’s not about how many friends I have on Facebook. I promise. When I purchase my fabrics, something about that pattern will trigger a memory of a friend or family member and I’ll think, “Oh! This reminds me of (Fill In Name Here).” So that’s why I “name” all of the pouches!

Are the pouches washable?
I am a klutz. A massive one. It killed me to invest into items that I would get dirty and could not get cleaned up, so everything I make is 100% washable. You can machine wash these in cold water on the delicate cycle. I use a “free and clear” detergent, but any will do. You can then put the pouches in the dryer on low, but I like to dry mine flat and use a warm iron to touch it up. All of the fabrics are pre-washed before I even cut them to get rid of shrinkage and to see if they will run. I wash them one more time once everything is put because I’m OCD, and well, I love the smell of clean laundry.

What kind of fabrics do you use?
All of the fabrics are 100% cotton to keep your gadget screens from getting scratched. I use a 100% cotton fleece interfacing that adds extra cushion and protection. For reinforcement parts of certain items, I will use suede or leather that I have recycled from older jackets.

How are the Pouches assembled?
Ancient Norwegian Secret. In reality, I’m very hard on my cases. I wanted something that was soft and very sturdy and had a great design. All of the seams are reinforced at the important parts because, let’s face it, we are all way too tough on our stuff. There are tabs (I call them ears) on the sides that allow you to attach a coordinating strap or even a key ring. (Just don’t leave it on while you drive, it does terrible things to an ignition switch!) So far, my original pouch has only had one failure of the elastic and I managed to fix that problem by getting thicker elastic. No, I don’t use Velcro or any hook and loop on any of my Pouches. It scratches up my screens as well as my hands.

What kind of smartphones/tablets/computers/cameras fit the Pouches?
Because I’m a geekette, I actually have a nice spreadsheet with the dimensions of various electronic toys and equipment. I like numbers!
• The Platypus Smartphone works with: iPhone, iTouch, iPod, Blackberry, HTC, Motorola, or just about any Smartphone. A regular flip cell phone will fit iin there too, it will just be more roomie.
• The Platypus Tablet Pouches will fit the Kindle, Nook, iPad, Samsung, HP, and Dell tablets/readers. There are two sizes so be sure to check and make sure you are getting the correct size to fit your device.
• The Platypus Camera Pouches will fit any SLR/DSLR. I design them to fit the larger circumferences of various camera gear.
Do you customize items?
I can customize any of these cases, so feel free to contact me and ask. If you have a specific fabric request I can do that as well.
