Back to School…Kinda
Howdy Platypie People! Yeah, I’ve been away far too long! So I’m going to start to remedy this by doing a bit of daily blogging in hopes of accomplishing a few things.
First and foremost, Army Guy is officially Broken Army Guy. His neck and back are not holding up very well, and this puts a whole new light on how the household is run. For instance, I will be accompanying him to and from classes playing Helper Platypus. He’s no longer allowed to lift anything over 10 pounds and that pretty much negates the backpack, three quarters of his textbooks, and by the looks of it, most of his geology field gear. Stairs for the moment are also out, but he has access to a great PT program here at the UMT campus so we are hoping within a few months things will be back to normal. Maybe.
When Army Guy isn’t using his iPad for class, I discovered I can use it for the website and Facebook and Twitter and even a few things with or developing and selling Platypus Pouches. Yeah, I’m slowly coming in to the 21st century. iPad Apps are my friends! As I type this, Army Guy is in Calc, and I’m trying super hard not to listen to the math professor in the class next to me explain cross multiplication for Algebra, and he’s making it so much harder then it needs to be! He’s hurting my brain!
Subject switch: I’m going to attempt my first show at the University of Montana Holiday Fair on December 1-3 at the University Center. However (there’s always a catch isn’t there?), I need to sell at least 10 Pouches or 8 iPad Pouches by 31 October in order to cover my expenses to go. So, stay tuned for a super, way cool offer I’m going to run starting Friday to help me get to that show!
Next in the Platypus Burrow is my new website. I’m futzing and redesigning the site. Right now I have a bunch of links that somehow got put there from a widget that went totally crazy. The other thing I’m doing is linking each item directly through Etsy. This way I will have more control over my innovatory. I’m also working with my super, new, way cool logo designed by Kim Nelson from Hand in Hand Photography. She did the scary thing and crawled around in my mind to figure out what kind of logo I wanted to make but could not express to get it on paper. The site for the time being is going to look a little off, but you can always check Etsy to see what I’ve got up to sell.
Next, I ROCKED the new iPad Pouch this weekend. I tried each Pouch out and they totally fit the iPad 1 and 2. A few even fit the OtterBox case with the iPad. This means this weekend I’m going to rock out the Kindle and Nook Pouches. If I get more time, I’m going to work the new Passport Pouch. A few weeks ago, I created a new SLR/DSLR camera Pouches, which include a padded camera strap with pouches in the strap, Lens Pouches of various sizes and Lens Cap/Filter Pouches. Right now, After Midnight Photography’s Dani and Hand in Hand Photography’s Kim have a full set of Platypus Camera Gear. I’m also designing and working a new camera backpack as well as a point and shoot camera pouch. Those should be read! to be sold before the Holidays!
I also wanted to give a super shout out to my friend Dani, who, bless her, managed to talk to a bizillion and one people and got them to friend me on Facebook! At last look, I had 52 friends. I feel like the popular kid! Thank you Dani and welcome new folks!
Ok so to some up: new site, Etsy, new Pouch designs, Holiday Fair, and stay tuned for a way cool offer starting Friday.
Have a great Tuesday, and everyone be good to each other and yourselves!
